It’s March – Do You Know Where Your New Year’s Resolutions Are?
Ah, March…the month that comes in like a lion (hence the 66 mile an hour wind gusts here in Colorado last week!) and goes out like a lamb. It’s the month that brings us Mardi Gras, March Madness, spring equinox, and of course – St. Patrick’s Day (and hopefully the luck of the Irish too!).
The onset of mid-March also means that we’re almost three months into the New Year. So how are you doing with your New Year’s resolutions? Are you sticking to them? If so, great! If not, it’s not too late to set out on your road to success. Let’s make sure you’re a LION about your goals, and not a lamb.
Here’s what I want you to do:
Write out three goals to achieve – a personal goal, a material goal and a financial goal. The results I’ve had by following through with my goals have been nothing short of astounding and life changing.
Here’s what I want you to write down for yourself:
“I am ____________________.” (One thing you want to personally improve: be more patient, exercise more often, etc.)
“I have __________________.” (One great thing you will own by 12/31/06)
“I make __________________.” (How much money did you make in 2006?)
Make sure these personal goals are meaningful and really get you excited. Now that you’ve written your goals down, you’ve set the bar for yourself. So how do you make them reality?
In order to make these goals set into your brain, your psyche, to really take hold of your life – you have to restate them to yourself every day – at least twice a day. I recommend you do this once in the morning, before you get out of bed, and once in the evening, before you go to sleep.
You’ll need to state your goals to yourself – loud enough for you to hear it. Why? Because by hearing your goals aloud, you’ll be stimulating the aural centers of your mind to get them to really “take root.” Tense your body and clench your fists while you say your goals, and look up and focus your eyes on an imaginary spot above you – as if you were trying to look at the inside of your forehead. This helps activate the subconscious mind. Say your goals at least TEN TIMES while you create physical tension in your body and focus your vision inward.
Give it a try! I know you’ll do great. And by all means, feel free to write and fill me in on your progress.
Warmly,
Russ

I want to be worth a million more than I am right now, by 12/12/2006.
So that means I will have to make a million. OK?

I would like to be debt-free by the end of the year; that is, credit card debt. Don’t want to overwhelm my goals but I do want to reach them. Money is not what makes me happy, it is more a peace of mind knowing that I don’t have to worry about the little things. So I’m on my way to a better life.
