The Irresistibly Perfect Box Of Donuts
Today, someone brought a box of donuts into the office. I usually try not to eat stuff like that, but today I couldn’t resist.
First of all, they smelled fantastic. They must have been really fresh – just out of the fryer in the last few hours.
Secondly, these donuts looked really appealing. And I don’t just mean that I could imagine how wonderful their candy-coated, pillowy texture would be. I mean, they actually LOOKED great. Whoever was responsible for these pastries was a real pro.
These donuts were colorful. The frosting was shiny and evenly coated. Some of the donuts had evenly-distributed sprinkles of various fun colors, making a nice contrast against the solid backdrop of icing. The donuts’ shapes were appealing – precisely round hoops and nice straight sticks. Even the way the donuts were lined up in even rows inside their box was perfect.
I was sold. I ate a donut.
It was delicious. And the next time I wanted a donut, I would go straight to the place that this box came from.
The presentation of those donuts was so good, I had to give them the attention they deserved. And ultimately, I listened to their message (“Eat me! I’m delicious . . .”) and I obeyed.
When you go about your daily business as an entrepreneur, try to be like a perfect box of donuts. Be consistently appealing – your voice, the look and message of your marketing materials, the fact that you’re always polite, on time to appointments and well-dressed.
Take the effort to pay attention to the details. Make sure your message to your customers is always the same – “I’m the best in the business” – on all levels.
If you do this, you’ll be surprised at how quickly your “donut shop” will grow.
Warmly,
